The brief

This homeowner wanted a cost-effective way to knock her power bill down, with the option to add battery storage later. A few friends had solar, but she wasn't sure what it could do for her place. So we started with her power bill: we ran it through our modelling software and showed her what a system would actually return, before she spent anything. From there we finalised the measurements and the design, and locked in 22 panels on a 6kW hybrid inverter. Start to finish, the install takes around four to five days.

Design and sizing

We modelled the system from her actual power bill, so she could see the numbers before committing. 22 panels on a 6kW inverter is right in the sweet spot for this roof.

Roof array

22 panels on the roof. The whole install runs around four to five days, start to finish.

Inverter and switchboard

A 6kW hybrid inverter, deliberately not oversized. An oversized inverter runs inefficiently, and the hybrid makes adding battery storage later a simple job.

Commissioning and handover

We worked with the homeowner to get them set-up on the app to review her solar usage and continue to support and refine the system as she uses it.
